Staff Spotlight: Serenity Ozzello

Serenity Ozzello has been a part of The Arbors family since 2011. She is the registered nursing supervisor, in charge of everything from supervising charge nurses and nursing assistants and assessing patients’ conditions. Above all, Serenity is an advocate for Arbors patients, checking in on them regularly and making sure their problems are taken care of or improving.

When Serenity was young, she would visit her mother, a nurse, on the job. She fell in love with the profession and the patients. So, she followed in her mother’s footsteps.

“I think at a young age as I loved the stethoscope and listening to the sound of my brothers’ hearts and lungs,” Serenity says. “It was so fascinating to me. There’s no better feeling than being a nurse and helping others.”

FB_IMG_15102599537851.jpgSerenity has been in the nursing field for 22 years. She started working as a Certified Nurses Assistant at the age of 16. Since then, she has worked as a LPN and RN. Because of her experience in the field, she understands firsthand the struggles those in the nursing profession face. This allows her to be there for her team members.

“I know what every nursing employee that I supervise goes through and what their workload is,” Serenity says. “I have been there and done it.”

Serenity is passionate about education. She continues to learn as much as she can about the nursing industry, management and leadership. When she isn’t working, she spends much of her free time taking courses at Amarillo College. She is currently working on her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Amarillo College.

“I strive to have great knowledge not only for our patients sake, but also for the staff to make them and encourage them to be the best they can be.”

When it comes to her job, Serenity takes great satisfaction in her role as a caregiver. Because she works directly with patients, she is able to help them succeed in their recovery goals, heal and return home.

“The best part about working at The Arbors is that I am able to be a part of it and make sure that our patients get the best care that we can provide,” Serenity says. “I want our care be the best and stay the best.”
